step off the coaster
and lay down, looking
at the plain sky
dissolve into the mud below
swallow the tightness
and fade into apathy
the nauseous waves
wash every fiber of the clothes away
the coral scrapes the flesh
and you won’t float for long
return to the earth
the way you always wanted to
now the algae
phytoplankton
contain bits of you
bones, turned to dust
slide onto the beach
to kiss the soles of others
